Fires at two homes under construction early Friday morning in Superior Township are being investigated as arson.
Firefighters were called around 3 a.m. to fires at homes on the opposite ends of a street that runs off Plymouth Road, near Vorhies Road, according to a report in The Ann Arbor News. Another home on the street that is reportedly occupied was not damaged.
"I don't have any reason to believe they weren't arson," Superior Township Chief Garvin Smith said.
The houses that were on fire both collapsed within minutes of the firefighters' arrival at the scene, Smith said. The homes were reportedly being shingled Thursday.
There were no reported injuries.
Two arsons at homes under construction in August and September remain unsolved, The Ann Arbor News reported.
All the fires reportedly occurred in new subdivisions near the Ford Road exit at M-14.
