'Home Alone' house sells for $1.6M

Original asking price was $2.4M

After nearly a year on the market, the house made famous by the "Home Alone" movies has been sold.

The home in Winnetka, Ill. -- north of Chicago -- sold for $1.6 million. That's down from the original $2.4 million asking price.

The agent who listed the home told the Chicago Tribune that the new owner wishes to remain anonymous.

Whomever they are, they've acquired a 4,250-square-foot residence with 14 rooms, including four bedrooms, 3.2 baths and a screened-in porch.

The former homeowners bought the house in 1988, and were living there when it was used to stage "Home Alone."

Filmmakers used the home's kitchen and main staircase in the movie. The production team papered over the walls to give it a more holiday feeling.
