'High School' Star Hudgens Sued By Attorney
Lawyer Claims Actress Owes Him $150K
POSTED: Wednesday, September 19, 2007
LOS ANGELES -- Vanessa Anne Hudgens, the "High School Musical" star recently involved in a nude photo flap, is being sued for alleged unpaid attorney's fees.
Attorney Brian Schall claims that Hudgens agreed to pay him 5 percent of her earnings in exchange for his legal representation since October 2005.
According to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Monday, Schall contends that the 18-year-old actress has earned more than $5 million since then, but she still owes him a balance of $150,000 in legal fees.
A message left with Hudgens' representative was not immediately returned.
Hudgens recently apologized to her fans for racy photos -- including one of her in the nude -- that turned up on the Internet earlier this month.
"I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos," the 18-year-old Hudgens said in a statement. "I am thankful for the support of my family and friends."
Hudgens plays the brainy student Gabriella opposite her high school's basketball star, Troy (Zac Efron), in the Disney Channel's wildly successful television movies "High School Musical" and "High School Musical 2."
