BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – The Uptown Film Festival, Michigan's premier film awards competition, recently announced it has opened submissions for the third annual Birmingham-based festival.
Scheduled for Nov. 7 to Nov. 9, UFF says this year's festival will not only uphold its longstanding tradition of celebrating Michigan-made movies and filmmakers, but aims to expand its reach to include more international productions.
The festival will feature screenings at the Birmingham 8 and Palladium 12 theaters.
Submissions will be accepted until Sept. 30 for a fee of $45. UFF said those received thus far include films from Australia, Germany, Puerto Rico, Greece, United Kingdom and Philippines.
"We could not be more thrilled about the direction in which this year's festival is headed," said Kirk Miller, UFF Co-Executive Director. "We're looking forward to the opportunity to grow this year's Uptown Film Festival to include more filmmakers and productions from across the globe and, most importantly, to continue to raise awareness of the importance of a thriving film industry in Michigan."
The UFF is currently accepting films in the following categories: Domestic Short, Features, Michigan Shorts, Experimental, Documentary, Michigan Feature, Web Series and Student.
UFF organizers said they will screen a diverse slate of more than 100 films to an anticipated audience of more than 5,000 film enthusiasts.
Historically, the UFF audience has been comprised of a cross-section of industry professionals from southeastern Michigan, Los Angeles and around the world; local and regional film fans and an ever-growing student population.
