Road Warrior 'Hawk' Dies Of Apparent Heart Attack

MINNEAPOLIS -- Professional wrestler Mike Hegstrand, who performed for decades as part of the popular '"Road Warriors'" tag-team, died Sunday of an apparent heart attack.
Hegstrand, 46, who wrestled under the nickname "Hawk," died in his sleep at his home in Clearwater, Fla. Hegstrand's funeral will be Oct. 28, in Seminole, Fla., according to the Pro Wrestling Torch, a Web site and industry newsletter.
Hegstrand teamed with Joe Laurinaitis, who wrestled as "Road Warrior Animal." Industry experts said in the 1980s, the team was one of the top wrestling acts in the world.
Hegstrand's exact cause of death isn't known, but friends say he had a history of heart problems and other ailments.
World Wrestling Entertainment honored Hegstrand before and throughout its "RAW" broadcast on the Spike (formerly TNN) network Monday night.
