Hip-hop superstar Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was in Detroit Wednesday, but there was no concert to be held.

The Grammy-winning rapper appeared at 3rd Circuit Court for the alleged assault of a Detroit radio host during a 1999 interview.

Former syndicated radio talk show host Roger Mills reportedly asked the hip-hop star about claims that he may have contributed to the death of rapper Christopher Wallace, better known as the Notorious B.I.G.

The question apparently prompted Combs to end the interview abruptly.

His representatives forcibly took the tape, destroyed a camera and injured Mills, according to Local 4 reports.

Combs took the stand around noon Wednesday. He told the courtroom he didn't remember much about the interview.

"The only recollection I have was when the case was brought to my attention and they told me it was in regards to somebody that did an interview with me who brought up a question about Biggie," Combs said.

There was no indication if Combs would testify Thursday.

The specific amount of damages sought by Mills was not disclosed.

Rumors still surround the shooting deaths of rapper Tupac Shakur in September 1996 and Wallace in March of 1997.

Combs' album "No Way Out" featured a Grammy-winning tribute to B.I.G., entitled "I'll Be Missing You," a remix of the Police's 1983 song "Every Breath You Take."
