South Lyon Native Nabs Win On NBC's 'Comic'
Father Says Son Has Always Been Comedian

HOWELL, Mich. -- A Michigan native took top honors on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" Thursday night.
John Heffron (pictured, left) grew up in South Lyon and his family now lives in Fowlerville.
Heffron was an on-air member of a Detroit morning-radio show in the late 1990s and has made appearances on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," VH-1 and Comedy Central.Heffron's father says his son has always been a comedian. He says John entertained customers with jokes over the public address system at the grocery store where he worked as a teenager."Last Comic Standing" is like "American Idol" -- without all the singing.Heffron was one of three finalists along with Alonzo Bodden and Gary Gulman. Viewers nationwide voted by phone or Internet for their favorite.Heffron gets a contract with NBC, a 30-minute special on Comedy Central and will appear Friday night on NBC's "The Tonight Show."
