Celebrity Chatter: The Skinny On Lindsay Lohan Weight Loss

'Impossible' Role Reason For Incredible Shrinking Actress?

POSTED: Monday, May 23, 2005

After Lindsay Lohan's "Saturday Night Live" appearance this week there's even more talk about her slimmed down figure. Remember, too, the camera adds about 10 pounds, they say. Yikes, is she skinny or what?

Gone is the baby fat from her 1997 starring role in "Parent Trap." But what is it that's eating Lohan besides the pressure of Hollywood to be slim, which she admits to?

Celebrity Chatter Michelle SolomonThe 18-year-old Lohan may be trying to get in shape for a movie role she desperately wants -- that being "Mission Impossible 3" with Tom Cruise.

Lohan recently told "Access Hollywood" that she's talked to the director J.J. Abrams about the starring role. The actress has credited her weight loss to vigorous personal training in an effort to get in shape for the film.

Any reports of an eating disorder were squashed by this recent comment to the New York Daily News.

"I'm happy with my life, and I love food," she told gossip columnist Ben Whitticombe.

So put those eating disorder questions to rest. If Lohan doesn't get her starring role in "Impossible," maybe she'll get a guest stint on the TV show "Lost." Director Abrams is the executive producer of that network show.

By the way, Lohan would be replacing actress Scarlett Johanssen, who pulled out of the "Impossible" project.

Speaking of Cruise, don't you think this gushing about Katie Holmes is just way over-the-top? You know how I feel about that relationship: publicity for two new movies anyone?

But Holmes wasn't Cruise's first choice to fuel the media machine. Some other gossip columnist dished that handlers were supposed to set up a date with another young Hollywood darling, but she was otherwise engaged.

Who am I to say the TomKat relationship isn't real? Barbara Walters and Oprah Winfrey have both exhorted that Cruise's love for Holmes is true.

What Hollywood singletons do you think should be put together in an effort to promote their upcoming movies? Send them on and I'll publish them in next week's column. Send to msolomon@ibsys.com.

Speaking of Hollywood hookups, is it true that "Star Wars" Hayden Christensen has been hobnobbing with "Housewives" star Eva Longoria?

Paltrow New Face Of Lauder

Gwyneth Paltrow is playing single mom as pop-star husband Chris Martin tours the country with his rock band "Coldplay." (Have you heard that Martin wants Beyonce to star in his next video?)

Gwyneth PaltrowBaby girl Apple just turned one on May 14 and Mom says she doesn't want to go overboard with the little tyke.

"I'm not going to be a controlling over-protective hippy," she said, according to printed reports from London where Paltrow lives.

Meanwhile, Paltrow has inked a multi-year deal with Estee Lauder to pitch the company's Pleasures line of fragrances. Elizabeth Hurley fans don't fret. She'll remain with Lauder, but be moved out of the Pleasures line and into pitching Re-Nutriv skin products for Lauder.
