Celebrities who died too young

Tuesday marks 56 years since "The Day the Music Died," with rockers Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson dying together in a plane crash. In honor of those fallen idols, join us in remembering them and other stars who died too young, some at the height of their careers.

Rockabilly Hall of Fame

More than a decade after suriving the car crash that killed Eddie Cochran, fellow rockabilly pioneer Gene Vincent, best remembered for his 1956 top 10 hit "Be-Bop-A-Lula," died at the age of 36 on Oct. 12, 1971, from a ruptured stomach ulcer while visiting his father in California.
