Former Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir became something of a fashion lightning rod with his unique on-air wardrobe during NBC's 2014 Winter Olympic coverage.
Weir, along with his broadcast partner and fellow Olympic figure skater Tara Lipinski, showed up for Saturday's Kentucky Derby in hats, as is the Churchill Downs tradition. However, Weir's headgear likely will go down as the stuff of Kentucky Derby fashion legend.
We'll let Weir explain it:
"It's all about victory today and I wanted to show Pegasus," Weir said of his haberdashery. "Clean, pure, fun, feathers, and that's what the Derby is all about."
Somewhere Hunter S. Thompson is toasting Weir with a double Old Fitz.
