Bob Seger headed to Songwriters Hall of Fame

Detroit musician to be honored for songwriting

DETROIT – Detroit musician Bob Seger is headed into the 2012 class of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Seger, who has sold more than 51 million records worldwide, is joined by a class that includes Gordon Lightfoot, Don Schlitz, Meat Loaf Collaborator Jim Steinman and the team of Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones.

The ceremony will be held June 14 in New York City.

The honor follows Seger's 2004 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the ceremony begin at $1,000 and are available at Songwriters Hall of Fame.
