DETROIT - The Warner Bros. upcoming Superman and Batman team-up movie will film in Michigan after getting the OK for $35 million in state incentives.
The Michigan Film Office on Thursday confirmed the "Man of Steel" sequel was awarded the incentives as part of $131 million of in-state spending to begin shooting in the Detroit area in the first three months of 2014.
Directed by Zach Snyder, the film is expected to feature Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman -- as well as Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
"Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie," Snyder said. "Detroit and the entire state of Michigan have been fantastic collaborators, and we are looking forward to working together on this film."
The filming is expected to include more than 400 Michigan workers.
Thousands of extras are expected to be needed for the movie.
