DETROIT – Watching Night at the Museum 3: Secret of the Tomb, it was hard not to pay extra close attention to the performance of the late, great Robin Williams. The legendary comedian and actor died in August, leaving fans around the world without closure. Night at the Museum 3 is the closure we were looking for.
As silly as the movie is, it also manages to carry the burden of being a comedy legend's final on-screen role. Not to mention, the movie's underlying thought of "it's time to move on" gives you the feeling that this is the last time we'll be enjoying Robin Williams.

The movie itself is a hoot. Yes, it's not as great as the first two movies, but it carries its own. Stand out performances by Rebel Wilson and Dan Stevens help to carry the movie through.
The late Mickey Rooney also has a moment in the movie, making it his last on-screen performance, as well.
Night at the Museum 3 probably wasn't needed, but the bittersweet goodbye to Robin Williams make it all the more worth it.
