Ford Arts, Beats and Eats kicks off Friday

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The annual excitement of the Ford Arts, Beats & Eats festival in Royal Oak is here.

The 2013 Ford Arts, Beats & Eats is presented by FirstMerit Bank and will be four days packed with top entertainers, delicious cuisine and impressive artwork.

The festival kicks off Friday, August 30 and runs through Monday, September 2. Here are the times:

Friday: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Monday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

THE ARTS:

Arts, Beats & Eats will include a Juried Fine Art Show featuring work from artists across the country. More than 140 artist booths will be part of the show with various media, including: jewelry, metal work, painting, wood and more, along with the work of photographers like West Bloomfield's Rod Carter.

THE BEATS:

Big named bands and smaller local groups will make up the "beats" portion of the festival.  Visitors can expect to see performances by Smash Mouth, Eddie Money, Montgomery Gentry, Soul Asylum, Guster, MC Hammer and others.

THE EATS:

The festival wouldn't be complete without the great tastes of metro Detroit cuisine. More than 50 restaurants and caterers will line the streets of Royal Oak. The list includes: Prime 29, Green Lantern, Eskimo Jack's, Sisro's Cakery, Mitchell's Fish Market, Hamlin Corner, Polish Village Café, Pronto!, Palm Palace and many more.

Admission to Ford Arts, Beats & Eats is $3. It is $5 after 5 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit 13 local charities.
