LEGOLAND opens to the public at Great Lakes Crossing

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan opened to the public Friday at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills.

The 32,000 square-foot attraction features LEGO themed rides, a 4D Cinema, build and play areas, special birthday party rooms, classes led by experienced model builders and an exhibit that displays local Detroit landmarks made entirely from LEGO bricks.

There are ten interactive play zones, including an interactive laser ride called Kingdom Quest, a racing build and test zone, and earthquake tables.

But most impressive is the venue’s signature re-creation of Detroit known as MINILAND. Built with over one million LEGO bricks by a team of 20 experts over six months, MINILAND contains more than 50 models of iconic area landmarks and hundreds of LEGO figures.

Every five minutes, MINILAND completes a day to night cycle.

“It has been a long and exciting journey leading to our grand opening, and we are grateful for the support we’ve received from the metro Detroit community,” said Hayley Anderson, general manager for LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan. “We are excited to give local children the unique opportunity to be immersed in a whole new colorful world of creativity, learning and imagination at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan.”

Legoland isn’t just about fun. Children are learning in key categories: science, technology, engineering, math and creativity. The best part is, they might not even know it!

All adults must be accompanied by a child to gain entry. Adult fans of LEGO are invited to adult night events held once a month.

Admission hours are between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
