Many nutrients can reduce the risk for prostate cancer (and no, it’s not just twigs and berries!) So guys eat a variety of these foods every day:
1. Lycopene, found in tomato products, is a powerful anticancer substance. Include tomato products in your diet every day such as pasta sauce, pizza sauce, tomato paste, ketchup, and fresh tomatoes. Helpful hint: Snack on grape tomatoes or cherry tomatoes instead of chips or crackers.
2. Selenium is a supercharged antioxidant that is essential to immune health. Food sources of selenium include mushrooms, Brazil nuts, fresh fish, grains, wheat germ, bran, whole-wheat bread, oats, and brown rice.
3. Cut back on higher fat red meat and high-fat dairy products, which may stimulate prostate cancer growth. Instead opt for leaner cuts of meat (round or loin cuts, trimming excess fat) and keep it to about three servings per week.
