Simple Salsa Protects Against Sunburn
Salsa and other tomato products have demonstrated the ability to significantly reduce sun burn, skin aging, and skin cancer risk. Modest amounts of tomato based products eaten daily increases levels of antioxidants, specifically lycopene, which protect skin from the sun’s damaging rays. However, while these foods are protective, they are not a substitute for sunscreen. Simply Delicious Salsa Ingredients: 1 - 14.5oz. can diced tomatoes or 3 large fresh tomatoes, diced1 sweet white or yellow onion, finely diced
1 small green pepper, finely chopped
1/2 cup Meijer chopped green chilies (with juice)
1 glove garlic, minced
1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped (seeds and veins removed)
2 Tbls. red wine vinegar
1 Tbls. Meijer extra-virgin olive oil
Salt to taste
Method: Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Stir well. Cover and chill before serving.
