Ford's support for veterans and their families dates back more than 90 years through its relationship with DAV, formerly Disabled American Veterans, and the DAV Transportation Network. Ford today employs more than 7,000 veterans plus hundreds of active military personnel, reservists and guardsmen.
This year, we supported the first ever Honor Flight to highlight the achievements of women who answered the call of service during World War II. Thirty original "Rosie the Riveters" — most of whom worked at Ford's Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti or other local plants — flew to Washington, D.C. for a special day of celebration and remembrance.
We are also proud to present the annual Ford Fireworks in Detroit, and the Focus on Freedom, a special program honoring veterans, active and retired military members and their families.
