Ford Motor Company and Ford Fund – the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company – is building stronger communities with innovative programs that make people's lives better. Our focus is on education, driving safely, volunteerism and community life.
An essential part of our mission is helping military veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom and way of life. Ford's support for veterans and their families dates back 95 years through our relationship with the DAV, formerly Disabled American Veterans, and the DAV Transportation Network. Since 1996, Ford has donated 207 vehicles to the DAV to help wounded veterans get to their medical appointments.
Ford also supports military families with Nurse Assistant Training through the American Red Cross and Blue Oval Scholarships to military members and their spouses to prepare them for careers in the healthcare industry. Through our support of Workshops for Warriors, we are also helping to train and certify veterans, wounded warriors and transitioning service members into advanced manufacturing careers. Acquiring these skills allow young men and women to find a new purpose and a sustainable job to support themselves and their families.
As part of the Ford Fireworks celebration in Detroit, Ford Motor Company Fund has partnered with Yankee Air Museum to host Focus on Freedom – an exclusive event honoring past and present members of the military. More than 250 active and retired military veterans and their families experience an up-close view of the Ford Fireworks in appreciation of their service and commitment to our nation.
