AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Thousands of people are lined up for the H1N1 flu vaccine Thursday at a clinic held by Oakland County at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The Oakland County Health Department had more than 200 health workers and volunteers on hand to distribute the nasal and injectable form of the vaccine from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m."We're really prepared for today. We have well over 10,000 doses, I don't have an exact count, but I think we're going to handle whatever shows up here today," said Kathleen Forzley, of the Oakland County Health Department.Only those in the target risk group for the virus are being asked to come.Pregnant women, adults ages 25 through 64 with underlying medical conditions and health care workers fit the criteria.The vaccine is free but ID with proof of residency within the county is required.Find out more at Oakland County's Web site.Pre-registration does not guarantee a vaccine but can drastically cut down wait time.Local 4 talked to several people in line at the clinic, most saying they waited about 2 hours."It's different because you're used to being in here for the (Pistons) game," said Royal Oak resident Kimberly Oday. "But I think it's more convenient because of the parking and because you have more room to move around."Once inside, lines of people were roped around the concourse."As you go through the process, you just sort of figure it out as you go, try to watch the people ahead of you," said Oxford Township Ron Heilner. "It all works out. There's a little bit of anxiety about whether you're going to do the right thing or get in the wrong line and get detoured, but it all works out."This is the county’s fourth clinic.To find other clinics, visit SE Mich.
