Eating Disorder Patients Get 'Real Help'

William Beaumont Hospital is opening its doors to people suffering from eating disorders with a program called "Real Help."
The hospital offers expert nutritional reahabilitation on a short-term basis and works closesly with outpatient eating disorder therapists to maintain continuous care, according to a Beaumont press release.
Beaumont's pediatric unit admits those with low body weight or rapid weight loss, severe electrolyte imbalance, very low pulse, very low body temperature and other signs of severe malnutrition, according to the release.
The adult psychiatric unit offers inpatient and partial hospitalization programs.
The department also offers support groups from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the 10th floor of the main hospital in Royal Oak.
A "Get Real Help" information session will be held Monday, Feb. 28 and Wednesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. in the Beaumont Hospital Auditorium located in the medical administration building in Royal Oak. Attendees will be given information and advice about how eating disorders can be treated.
Group meetings are held every Monday at Beaumont for patients only. On the second Wednesday of every month, general members of the public interested in learning more about eating disorders are welcome to attend a group session moderated by a doctor. Group meetings held on the fourth Wednesday of every month are for parents only.
