The federal restrictions have been lifted so that anyone who wants to get a flu shot is now eligible.
Before Monday, only people who were identified as high-risk individuals who could get a flu shot.
So, where can you find one.
Try your doctor's office first, but don't be surprised if they don't have shots.
Local 4 checked with dozens of local doctors and found only about half have received even a portion of the shots they ordered.
If you don't want to wait, there are other options.
Your best bet? Stop by a major pharmacy or supermarket chain. They place huge orders and so far, have plenty of shots. The Visiting Nurses Association and Michigan Visiting Nurses are also well stocked.
Health Department Flu Shot Supply
What about the health departments?
Wayne County and Dearborn are still waiting for most of their flu shots.
Detroit has almost half of its shot, but they're for high-risk groups only.
Macomb County has received about half of its supply. Clinics will vaccinate senior citizens starting Monday.
Monroe County is also focusing on senior citizens getting flu shots, but after Nov. 1, flu shots will be available to all residents on a walk-in basis.
Washtenaw County has shots available by appointment.
Oakland County Readiness Drill
If you live in Oakland County, a massive vaccination event is being planned at three locations Saturday, Oct. 29.
The county hopes to administer 10,000 flu shots in one day as part of a disaster readiness drill.
To help speed things up, the Oakland County Health Department is asking residents to fill out a consent form in advance.
