"This is not about my abs," he said. "This is about a health crisis that nobody in the city of Detroit is talking about. The Michigan Department of Community Health says that 70 percent of Detroiters are either overweight or obese. That means that seven out of ten of us have some issue with our weight.

"So that means this issue is bigger than crime, which we seem to be focused on. Crime is an issue, but our health is a bigger issue."

From Charles Pugh's website Pughandyou.com:

Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh explains everything he did to lose 60 pounds through healthy eating and exercise — and how you can do the same. He'll tell you why diets don't work, what nutritionists say is the perfect food to eat daily if you're trying to lose weight, the biggest mistake you make every morning that makes you gain weight, and why your suit jacket is slowly killing you.
"We've got a lot going on in the city, but I'm never too busy to find time for my health. I've lost more than 60 pounds during the busiest time of my life, and I want to show you how I did it."
