Stacey Schwerin of Bay City says a hospital notified her Nov. 21 that a kidney is available for Jessica, who was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure, reported MLive.com.

Jessica's need also was listed through the state's organ donor registry, and the identity of the donor wasn't disclosed.

Schwerin was told that the kidney will come from a living donor and a transplant likely will take place in January.

She says the family "can't be thankful enough."

Jessica says she's "excited but scared" and hopes the donor will be OK after surgery.

Schwerin previously turned down cash donations received during her sign campaign because she was "more worried about finding a donor" for her daughter.
