DETROIT - Thursday is national HIV testing day.  It's an effort to encourage people to be screened for the virus that causes AIDS.

The CDC estimates more than a million people are living with HIV and one in five don't know they are infected.

Early diagnosis and treatment can prolong life and help prevent transmitting the virus to others.
