5-year-old cancer patient could use birthday card from you

Trenton girl was diagnosed with brain tumor in 2011

TRENTON, Mich. – An adorable 5-year-old from Trenton would like something extra special for her 6th birthday: Birthday cards, from you.

Hailey Shores was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October of 2011. For the next three years, she went through things no child ever should.

"It was one thing after another," said her mom, Miranda Shores. "She was placed on hospice right away, just in case. First was a surgery, then chemo, radiation, a stem cell transplant."

Hailey is now in remission; it's been two years, but all that time isolated in the hospital has taken a toll.

"With her being isolated, she sometimes doesn't know what to say to them."

So, Miranda is hoping a pile of birthday cards will help.

"I think especially if kids make a special drawing or painting for her, it will make her feel more included."

To help guide your creativity, Hailey's favorite color is pink, and her birthday party is a "Tangled"-theme -- her favorite movie.

The party is on March 28, 2015. If you'd like to make her a birthday card, send it to:
