Watermelon Oreos are taking the cookie world by storm.
The new Watermelon Oreos are not the first experimental limited edition Oreo cookie to be produced. Last Halloween, they released their Candy Corn-flavor, and other off the wall flavors like Strawberry Milkshake, and Birthday Cake Oreos.
The new summer flavor will include the trademark vanilla cookie with a pink and green filling to resemble a watermelon.
Watermelon Oreos are available exclusively at Target stores for $3, and already hit the shelves on June 10. The Oreo cookie has a huge online presence, and cult following. Their Facebook page has over 33 million likes.
"These line extensions have been happening for quite some time and will continue to happen. It brings excitement to a category and brings consumers to a particular aisle in the grocery store," says Erin Lash, a senior equity analyst at Morningstar who covers consumer product companies.
