DETROIT – Metro Detroit doctors are seeing a lot of typical fall illnesses including allergies and contagious viruses.
Temperature changes in the next few days will not help. Here is a look at what's going around.
Wayne County
Upper respiratory infections, colds and asthma top the list at Children's Hospital.
Garden City Hospital reports more cases of bronchitis. Internal Medicine, of Grosse Pointe Farms, is seeing stomach viruses. Dr. John Jarkar at Saint John Hospital is seeing more patients with back and joint pain which have been aggravated by the weather.
Oakland County
Providence Hospital reports a lot of asthma attacks and viral bronchitis. Fevers caused by viruses also are hitting children hard.
Providence Park's Dr. Robert Zaid says he is treating several patients with shingles or sinus problems.
Henry Ford Medical Center in Royal Oak is seeing colds.
Washtenaw County
Doctors at University of Michigan report a lot of respiratory viruses making kids wheeze. Saint Joseph Mercy is seeing colds, coughs and a stomach virus causing nausea and vomiting.
Monroe County
Emergency room doctors at Mercy Memorial are seeing an increase in both children and adults suffering from bronchitis. Allergies and asthma also are a problem.
Macomb County
McLaren Macomb is still treating a lot of patients for allergies and stomach viruses. Henry Ford Sterling Heights reports upper respiratory and sinus infections.
Not too many flu cases
Doctors are not seeing a lot of flu cases, yet. However, Michigan does have several confirmed cases of influenza.
