McLaren Cancer Institute offering free colorectal cancer screening kits throughout March
Test is painless, recommended for those with family history of cancer or anyone who over 50
McLaren Cancer Institute is offering free colorectal cancer screening kits throughout the month of March.
The Burton-based cancer institute is doing so in accordance with National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
The kits are recommended for those with a family history of colorectal cancer, as well as anyone who's 50 and older.
The test is painless and can be self-administered with a minimal stool sample. It takes only a few minutes and can be performed in the privacy of a home. No fasting is required, and any medicine can be taken normally as prescribed.
More than 5,400 people took advantage of McLaren's free colorectal cancer screening program last year.
