DETROIT – A highly contagious disease continues to be a major issue for young children, and the heat is still causing problems for some people, according to Local 4 Medical Expert Dr. Frank McGeorge.
In Wayne County, Children's Hospital is seeing lots of kids with hand, foot, and mouth disease and rotavirus. Summer allergies to various pollens are also popping up.
Moving to Oakland County, Beaumont doctor Edward Walton reports several cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease there too. Plus many patients suffering from symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. Clarkston Urgent Care is seeing lots of colds.
In Washtenaw County, pediatricians at the University of Michigan are treating kids with high fevers and viral illnesses. Saint Joseph Mercy reports some patients suffering from dehydration.
Moving to Monroe County, doctors at Mercy Memorial have seen an increase in hand, foot, and mouth disease, and teenagers suffering from vomiting and diarrhea.
On the adult side, summer allergies are an issue, along with pink eye, and poison ivy.
In Macomb County, ER doctors at Mclaren Medical Center report some hand, foot, and mouth disease, a few cases of swimmer's ear and some patients with symptoms of dehydration.
Local 4 Medical Expert Dr. Frank McGeorge said in addition to thirst and a decrease in urine, mild or moderate dehydration can also cause headaches, constipation, and tiredness. Be sure you keep drinking sufficient water.
