Is the lipstick you wear slowly making you sick? According to a new study, certain lipsticks and glosses may contain high levels of metals.

Researchers with the University of Berkley's School of Public Health looked at eight different lipsticks and 24 lip glosses, bought at drug stores, department stores and chain specialty stores. The prices of the makeup ranged from just over $5 to $24.

Some of them contained cadmium, chromium, aluminum and manganese. Small amounts of cadmium have been linked to kidney problems.

According to the study, when used an average of twice a day, the estimated intake was above acceptable levels for the metals - creating a potential health risk.
