Campaign on Facebook has more than 700,000 participants

Hundreds of thousands of people are using their dogs to cheer up a 16-year-old Arizona teen that is undergoing chemotherapy.

As of Monday afternoon, the Facebook-created event "Photo Doggies for Anthony" had more than 795,000 participants who had posted more than half a million photos.

The campaign was started by friends of Anthony Lyons, who is being treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

"Some days he gets doggy visits and some he does not. They make him smile. I thought if I create this event, you can post a picture of your dog to help make him smile. His mom shows them to him and he smiles," wrote friend Roberta Lucero-Koron on the page.
