Thrifty Thursday: Holiday wreaths aren't just for holidays

DETROIT – Somewhere in each and every home lies an old holiday wreath covered with outdated ornaments and dusty plastic foliage.

But before you toss it with tomorrow's trash, why not give it a quick and "thrifty" facelift just in time for spring!

Nothing says "welcome spring" and welcomes guests into your home like a festive, fresh happy door wreath.

All you need are fresh or silk flowers, a pair of utility scissors, an old outdated holiday wreath that you can strip down or you can purchase one for less than $3 at your local resale shop in the bric-a-brac section.

Once you've prepped your flowers by cutting away each blossom from the bunch, you're ready to begin arranging them onto the wreath. Be sure you leave the stems long enough to twist around the wreath or to push through and twist in the back. You can also add beads and jewelry to make it more lively.

Not only are these wreaths like jewelry for your doors, they make stunning centerpieces as well!
