Convicted Serial Rapist Sentenced

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. -- A 28-year-old Dearborn Heights man was sentenced to 25 to 45 years in prison after he was found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Kenneth Gunther pleaded guilty to raping two women, one Dearborn resident and one Dearborn Heights resident, inside of their homes in 2007.

One of the alleged victims testified against Gunther on Dec. 5.

She told the court that a man entered her home while she was mowing the lawn. When she went into the bathroom, he grabbed her, threatened her life and put a towel over her head.

She said he forced her to put her 4-year-old daughter in a bedroom while he raped her in another room, and then her raped her again in the living room.

The victim said her attacker forced her to launder her sheets with bleach and to take a shower while he watched.

Less than two months later, a similar incident was reported in Dearborn Heights. A woman alleged Gunther attacked her on Oct. 19 after she returned home with her 2-year-old son, who remained in his stroller on the back porch while the assault occurred.

The woman was also forced to wash herself.

Dearborn and Dearborn Heights residents held numerous community meetings to share their concerns about a rapist at large. Gunther was arrested Nov. 19.
