BOSTON, Mass -- "You can go to our site, Jobaphiles.com, and search our database of jobs. There's over 200 jobs right now and growing every single day, and basically choose a job that interests you, that fits within your skill set, and place a bid," said site developer Thai Nguyen.
Nguyen and two associates created Jobaphiles last year. It was originally a college job site at M.I.T. But, now they’ve gone nationwide and beyond the college market. There are even postings for Michigan.
Real estate broker Kelvin Xuna is happy to take bids. He hires people on a contingency basis to scout the Web for distressed commercial properties for purchase and rental. “A typical research firm costs about $15,000 to $20,000 for the due diligence, and we will gladly divide that up in percentages and distribute it to the people that helped us, depending on the amount of research they dedicated to the project," Xuna said.
"Definitely employers can use this as a resource to find qualified, hardworking individuals to perform jobs," said Adam Blakeway, a co-creator of the job website.
Even though job seekers bid against each other site creator Nguyen said, "It's really not a way of undercutting. In fact, we help to develop a conversation between the two so that they really get both what they need and want."
