LIVONIA, Mich -- Livonia leaders have cleared the way for a electric car battery manufacturer to move in.
City Council members approved a resolution of support to designate 39000 Seven Mile Road as a Renaissance Zone Wednesday night.
Technicolor Video used to be located at the site.
If the Michigan Economic Development Corp. approves the Renaissance Zone designation, A123 Systems, a Boston-based battery supplier, will move its headquarters there.
That approval would also pave the way for A123 to possibly receive $10 million in grants, a $4 million loan, a new job creation tax credit and advanced battery tax credits.
A123 Systems has Michigan facilities in Ann Arbor and Novi.
Chrysler recently signed the Boston-based company as its battery supplier to put its electric vehicles on the road next year.
The move could create 300 jobs over the next two years.
