Company Issues Recall For Diet Pills

FDA Says Recalled Pills Contain Potentially Dangerous Ingredient

BROOKLYN, New York -- Universal ABC Beauty Supply International Inc. has issed a nationwide recall for several brands of its diet pills.

The Food and Drug Administration said the recalled diet pills contain sibutramine. Sibutramine is an FDA-approved weight loss drug but it’s not approved to be in the Universal diet pills because those pills aren’t regulated.

Sibutramine can substantially increase blood pressure and heart rate something that could be deadly for people who have a history of heart problems.
