We've Provided Tips And Contacts To Help You

Ruth To The Rescue has helped thousands of metro Detroiters when it comes to consumer problems, and now there are more ways to tackle these problems on your own.

Volunteers

Ruth To The Rescue volunteers take calls at (313) 223-CALL4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekdays only; however, there are other methods to getting your problems heard.

Other Help

With helping so many people, it is difficult to get to every problem solved at the same time. Ruth has provided helpful agencies and phone numbers for a fast, easy and convenient method of solving your problems.

Legal Help: Ruth To The Rescue unfortunately cannot help anyone in the legal system, however troubles with attorneys can be reported to the Attorney Grievance Commission at (313) 961-6585.

Small Claims: To collect small claims court winnings, return to the court to get help. An explanation and what to do to collect claims can be seen on the Michigan Courts Web site.

Problems with Judgements: The Judicial Tenure Commission of Michigan is the place to report any problems with any state judges at (313) 961-6585.

Lawyers: To find a lawyer, the Lawyer Referral Organization can be contacted at (800) 968-0738. A fee may be charged.

The Wayne County Legal Services can be reached at (313) 962-0466.

Friend Of The Court

Problems that can be handled by the Friend of the Court can be contacted at (800) 801-KIDS.

Home Purchases. Housing

Purchasing a house can be a task all it itself. Ruth suggests to have your own house inspector and an attorney present.

If a landlord is causing problems or not filling an obligation, contact the Attorney General Mike Cox's office at (517) 373-1140. The United Housing Commission at (313) 963-3310 and Wayne County Neighborhood legal services at (313) 962-0466, ext. 323, can also help.

The Fair Housing Center can help with housing problems at (313) 226-6260.

Identity Theft

If an identity is stolen, whether it be online from a credit card use or Social Security number being misused, the Federal Trade Commission can help to correct an identity by calling (877) 438-4338.

Black Mold

Black mold problems can be corrected by calling Environmental Control at (800) 648-6942.

Recalled Products

If a product has malfunctioned or to check if it was recalled, contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission at (800) 638-2772. You call also check for the latest recalls on the Ruth To The Rescue page of ClickOnDetroit.com by clicking here.

Automobiles Buying, Selling, Repairs

The best way to get automobile assistance is to contact the car manufacturer, according to Ruth to the Rescue. First, contact customer assistance. Locally, you may contact the Ford Dispute Board, P.O. Box 5120, Southfield, MI, 48086-5120 or the Chrysler Satisfaction Board, P.O. Box 1165, Rochester MI, 48038-1165. For General Motors and cars other than Ford and Chrysler brands, contact the Better Business Bureau locally at (248) 644-9100 or nationally at (800) 955-5100.

Any safety, defects and recalls for automobiles should be directed to the Center for Auto Safety at (202) 328-7700, the U.S. Department of Transportation at (800) 424-9393 or the Federal Trade Commission at (877) 382-4357.

The Bureau of Auto Regulations can assist with faulty repairs (800) 292-4204.

If gasoline pumps become faulty or wrong, call the Michigan Department of Agriculture at (800) MDA-FUEL.
