DETROIT -- New homicide numbers are in for the city of Detroit -- and they're higher than previously reported.
Last month, the Detroit Police Department announced 339 murders in 2008. But it's now been determined that 375 murders were committed in 2008.
That’s an increase of 36 more deaths than originally reported, but is 17 less than 2007.
Detroit Mayor Dave Bing said, "Public safety is a top priority of my administration, and we have to know what we are working with."
