DETROIT -

When summer rolls around, it’s time to take the top down and hit the road, if you're lucky enough to own a convertible. Total Car Score, an automotive research website, has released its list of the Top Ten Convertibles of 2012.

The editor-in-chief of the website says the rankings are based on at least five ratings from independent automotive authorities. While convertibles used to represent a tiny fraction of the car market, the number of options available has increased dramatically. There's something for everyone as they range in price from $18,000 to $450,000 (Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead)

Without further ado, here are the Top Ten Convertibles of 2012. You will notice only one American model made the cut.

#1) Mercedes Benz E-Class

#2) Infiniti G

#3) Ford Mustang

#4) Audi R8

#5) BMW 3-series

#6) Mini Cooper

#7) BMW 1-series
