Jetting to Paris, or catching the red eye to Los Angeles, used to seem so glamorous, so exciting!

Now, more and more passengers are having trouble finding the glamour when it comes to air travel.

TripAdvisor recently released the results of its annual Air Travel Study. It found their top complaint is uncomfortable seats and limited leg room. The poll showed 38 percent of those polled says more leg room is the most important improvement the airlines need to make.

However, 44 percent said they had never paid for a better seat assignment. Clearly, they'd like to have the extra room, without paying for the added space.

Rounding out the top five complaints after seating: costly fees and tickets, unpredictable flight delays, long security lines, and other passengers (IE loud children).

If they had it their way, 58 percent would take an aisle seat, 42 percent would choose the window, and four percent prefers the oft-dreaded middle seat. About 81 percent would be willing to go without in-flight entertainment for a significantly cheaper flight.

Air travel fee frustration

And, when it comes to airlines fees, these five really annoy the folks in this survey: checked baggage, carry-on baggage, seat selection, printed boarding pass at airport, and in-flight amenities

Fifty-one percent of respondents say that the brand of airline is important or extremely important when making a booking decision. Southwest Airlines tops the most popular airline list, with 19% of travelers naming it their favorite.
