If you're looking to save money on auto insurance, you might think about changing the type of car you drive.

Of course, you know rates vary from vehicle to vehicle. Now, insure.com has crunched some numbers and come up with a list of the most and least expensive models to insure.

This is based on a national survey, so Michigan drivers may pay more. Insure.com recently names Michigan as the state with the second highest rates in the country.

When it comes to specific models, the insurance shopping website says the Ford Edge SE is the least expensive to insure, with an average annual rate of $1,128.

It's followed by the Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, Subaru Outback, and Kia Sportage.

The most expensive cars to insure are all pretty luxurious. The top 8 are all Mercedes-Benz models with the CL600 ranking as the most expensive to insure. It's average annual premium is $3,357. The other two models in the top ten are both Porsches.
