TROY, Mich. -

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Works! and Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop are teaming up for a second time to host a live virtual job fair on Wednesday.

The MiVirtualCareerFair will take place Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. online and at participating restaurants around Michigan.

"The June career fair we held in partnership with Tim Horton's was a huge success, with more than 20 employers and 1,000 participants making connections," said Joe Quick, Manager of Talent Programs, Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

Organizers of the fair said Pure Michigan Talent Connect and Michigan Works! staff will be onsite at the Tim Hortons in Troy to offer resume tips and interview advice.

Computers will also be set up for job seekers to participate in the MIVirtualCareerFair and apply for open positions.

"Partnering with Tim Hortons allows us to extend our resources, including the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website, to job seekers who otherwise might not have access and help connect them with career opportunities throughout the state," said Quick.

More than 19 employers are hiring for a wide range of positions. Organizers said Workbox Staffing and Phoenix Personnel will be onsite at the Tim Horton's in Troy, located at 3331 Rochester Road.

"There are more than 60,000 jobs available in various industries on the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website, which connects Michigan employers to qualified talent as well as provides resources for job seekers," Quick said.

Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop will also be providing coupons to participants for discounted items at job fair locations, including:

  • Gaylord, 1301 W. Main St.,
  • Grand Rapids, 900 Fulton St W,
  • Saginaw, 4870 State St.,
  • Troy, 3331 Rochester Road

Participation is free for job seekers who can register, view informational videos on the virtual environment and learn how to navigate within the environment.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting another virtual job fair with The Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Michigan Works! across our Michigan restaurants," said Maureen Finnigan, Troy Tim Hortons restaurant owner. "It's a good feeling to know you could be helping someone get back into the workforce or move on to the next chapter in their career."

Organizers said all job openings posted during the fair will be accessible to participants for 30 days after the live event.
