1 dead, 3 hurt in Hamtramck house fire

Fire on Belmont Street being called 'suspicious'

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – Hamtramck fire officials said one person was killed and three others hurt in a suspicious overnight fire.

The victims' names have not been released.

The three people who survived the fire are hospitalized, their conditions weren't immediately known.

The fire was reported about 10 p.m. Sunday on Belmont Street near Lumpkin.

Fire Chief Paul Wilk described the home as a three-family flat. The fire was in a home on the ground level.

It is unclear what sparked the blaze, but it is being investigated as a possible case of arson.
