2 women hit Friday night on Detroit's northwest side

DETROIT – One woman was killed and another seriously hurt Friday night in a hit-and-run on Detroit's northwest side.

Detroit police office Patricia Crawford said the 53-year-old and 41-year-old women were hit just after 11 p.m. while they were crossing West Seven Mile Road near Prevost Street.

Crawford said the driver never hesitated and made a quick getaway going north on Prevost.

"There was a whole lot of traffic out there. Even if you did not see the accident, you may have seen the vehicle before the accident. Hopefully, someone got a license plate," Crawford said.

She said police were looking for a light colored Buick, possibly a Century, that would have damage to it's driver's side area. The car also had a distinct different, dark colored, from passenger door.

Witness Frank Williams said he saw several people trying to help the women as they lay in the street by stopping traffic around them.

"It was an ugly scene. Whoever hit them will hopefully get caught because that was pretty bad," he said.

The victim's names have not been released.
