1 killed in apparent drunk driving crash on I-94

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Macomb County police say Eddie Griffin III, from Warren, was killed Friday night when the driver of the car he was in lost control and crashed on westbound I-94.

Witnesses told police that the car passed them at a high speed at around 11:20 when the driver lost control and the car rolled over multiple times. It came to rest in the lanes on WB I-94 near Shook Road.

Police say Griffin, the only passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man from Clinton Township, was taken to McLaren hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol appears to be a factor in the accident.
