1 man killed, 1 man in critical condition after being hit on I-96 in Livonia

Police say victims were hit by car that veered on freeway; Alcohol, drugs not suspected in crash

LIVONIA, Mich. – A man was killed and another man remains in critical condition after they were hit early Monday morning on Interstate 96 in Livonia.

Police said the men, a 22-year-old from Wayne and a 22-year-old from Westland were working on a disabled vehicle that was on the side of the eastbound lanes near Middlebelt Road when they were hit by a car that had veered.

Police said the car's driver, a 23-year-old man from Redford, wasn't hurt and stayed at the scene.

Police said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the crash.

The names of the victims and the driver haven't yet been released.
