The officer was driving her own vehicle when she crossed the center lane and crashed with another vehicle seriously injuring a woman from Scio Township, police said.
Ann Arbor police said the officer is an 11-year veteran and said they believe she was driving while intoxicated.
Both the officer and the victim, a woman from Scio Township, were transported to the University of Michigan Hospital with serious injuries.
The officer is on paid administrative leave. Results from a blood-alcohol test are expected later this week.
