YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The Huron Valley Humane Society told Local 4 Friday that Pet City in Ypsilanti is part of an animal cruelty investigation. The investigation began two miles away from Pet City at the home of an employee in Ypsilanti. The conditions of the home were deemed unlivable by the city, and 30 dogs were removed. The Humane Society said the home had feces and urine that were several inches thick on the floor, along with garbage and maggots.
Investigators said something they found inside the now-condemned home led them to Pet City, but they would not reveal what it was. Investigators explained it might jeopardize the case they are building against Pet City. The humane society said it has already filed animal cruelty charges against the homeowner.
