Detroit Officer Dies From Self-Inflicted Gunshot

Police said that a female off-duty officer's gunshot wound to the stomach appears to be self-inflicted.

Detroit Officer Tabitha McCree was shot in the stomach, and Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings said in a brief news conference that the shooting appeared to be self-inflicted.

Officials responded to the area of St. Anne and Bagley streets in southwest Detroit and transported McCree to Detroit Receiving Hospital where she later died.

McCree's family was at her side when she died on Friday afternoon.
