11-year-old girl nearly abducted on her way to school in Highland Park

Police searching for man

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – An 11-year-old girl was nearly abducted Tuesday morning on her way to school in Highland Park.

The attempted abduction happened at about 6:45 a.m. on Oakman Boulevard.

The girl was with her brother and sister walking to school when a man hiding in bushes outside of an abandoned building jumped out and grabbed her. Another adult walking his child to school scarred the man off and the girl ran home.

The man is described as black, standing about 6 feet tall, heavy-set and wearing all black clothing with a blue beanie cap. 

Highland Park police are investigating.
